Reactions to Terrorist Attack
I’m sure by now all of you have heard of the terrible events in New York and Washinton DC. We in the US are reeling from the attacks this morning. This has been the worst attack on the United States since Perl Harbor, some fifty years ago. All of America is dumbfounded.
Here in Seattle, most transportation services have been shut down. The airport has shut down, the train and the state ferry system schedules have been disrupted. Nearby military bases are on high alert. Bremerton Naval station has dispersed the local fleet. A Navy destroyer and two frigates are cruising in Elliot Bay near downtown Seattle. Buildings were evacuated and shopping malls and arenas were closed. As I took my morning walk, there was an eerie silence. Skies normally crowded with planes lining up for landing at nearby Boeing Field and Seatac Airport were empty. Few cars were on the street. The only sounds were the buzz of televisions and radios streaming from neighborhood houses, delivering the shocking events of the morning. Truly a day that will be forever imprinted on my mind.
Although I can’t provide any additional news other than what you have already seen on Television or read in newspapers, I thought I\’d put up this article to provide a forum for comments. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families of this terrible event.

The feelings are common here in europe. We regret the lost of so many lives. Glad that you responded so fast James. As far from this side we hope that the free world responds in a proper way facing those terrorists and give them what they deserve. Our hearts and thoughts are with you all.
James, thanks for the update. I\’m trapped in Calgary Alberta, unable to fly home to Toronto (as was scheduled yesterday) waiting for airports to open. As of now they remain closed until further notice. All buildings are on high security alert here too, and everyone has been affected in some way. Our company (Accenture) has staff who were in the financial district there, as yet unaccounted for, so we are watching and waiting for news with deep concern, both for the missing as well as for the future.
